Two-Tone Exterior Transformation in Ringwood, IL

Scope of the Project:

The project began with thorough surface preparation, including power washing to remove chalking, dirt, and mildew buildup. Our team then lightly scraped all loose or peeling paint to establish a solid foundation for new coatings. We also removed and reinstalled downspouts to ensure full coverage on trim and siding areas hidden behind them.

All gaps, cracks, and seams were re-caulked using high-quality Vulkem textured caulk for lasting flexibility and protection. Bare wood and metal surfaces were spot primed for proper adhesion. Two coats of Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Acrylic Satin were then applied across multiple surfaces—soffits, trim, fascia, porch posts and ceilings, shutters, doors, garage doors, gutters, and even the detached shed—for a cohesive finish in a sleek charcoal tone.

Special Techniques:

Achieving clean, crisp results required significant attention to masking and detailing. Our crew performed an extensive taping process to protect newly installed siding and other finished areas while maintaining sharp, professional lines throughout. Every painted surface was washed or wiped down prior to application to ensure a dust-free, uniform finish.

In areas where the wood had been previously stained, we used a spot-priming technique with the same product line to maintain consistency and durability. The combination of meticulous preparation, expert taping, and spot-priming delivered a flawless end result that met the homeowner’s modern design vision while preserving long-term protection for all painted surfaces.
