Bringing the Renovation Together With Fresh Paint
In November 2025, CertaPro Painters® of McHenry completed a one-day interior project in Cary, Illinois, helping the homeowner put the finishing touches on a nearly completed home renovation. With newly installed trim throughout much of the space and updated design choices planned for the stairwell, the homeowner wanted a clean, modern finish that tied into current interior trends. Our team provided full-service prep and finishing, ensuring all new architectural elements blended seamlessly with the rest of the home.
This project also aligned with a growing design movement that uses trim, moulding, and paneling to create elevated accent walls. Instead of relying solely on color, these features add depth, character, and visual interest, especially in stairwells and transitional spaces. By priming, caulking, and painting the new trim and paneling, the crew helped bring this modern, sophisticated look to life.
Scope of the Project:
Our team completed comprehensive prep on newly installed trim throughout the project area, including caulking gaps, priming bare wood, and finishing with premium coatings. The stairwell received special attention: the homeowner had incorporated decorative trim and paneling designed to blend into the wall plane, creating a clean, architectural accent. To achieve this effect, the stairwell walls were finished with Scuff-X, chosen for its durability and smooth appearance in high-traffic areas, while the upper walls were coated in an eggshell finish for soft, consistent sheen.
A small section above the crown molding along the upper staircase was also painted to ensure a cohesive, continuous aesthetic. Additionally, the front entry door underwent a full color transformation using a stripping compound, primer, and fresh topcoat – adding a dramatic and welcoming focal point to the home’s entrance.
