Challenges

We have a contract to paint 14 buildings of multi-family complex in Morris County, NJ. This is already the 2nd Phase of Painting the exterior of this facility. We have already painted 10 buildings. This project includes masonry work and requires prep work prior to painting. We needed to make sure that we were communicating with all the residents of the condominiums to schedule the power washing and painting when they were available to let us access the enclosed patios. Scheduling was a challenge as we needed to make sure that we followed our customers’ availability to paint. Weather was also a challenge as we needed to monitor what days it was forecast to rain, so we know when to start/stop painting and doing the masonry simultaneously to optimize the quality and durability of the final result.

CONDITIONS

When the commercial painting team of CertaPro Painters® of Livingston, NJ, arrived at the job, the condition of the building had dirt, mold, and mildew. The current existing paint was also extremely old and peeling.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

• • Preparation – To prep for the job, we had to make sure our team of painters had extremely tall ladders to reach higher areas that aren’t typical to reach on a normal-sized ladder. Along with this, we need to make sure we had power washers and sprayers. 
    
    
  • Painting – Painting 14 Buildings, Masonry Patching where needed, Puttying, Caulking, and Wood Filling as Needed, Power washing, Removing mold/Mildew, Scraping and sanding loose paint, Priming all wood surfaces in scope and Prime Metal in areas being painted
