Pleasant Valley School District Repaint

CHALLENGES & CONDITIONS:

At the start, the buildings showed their age. The walls had visible wear and tear—scrapes, dents, and dings that had built up over time. Many of the sheetrock walls needed patching and repair using skim coating and mud to smooth over damage. The cinder block walls were generally in better shape, although they still required caulking in old holes and hairline cracks. The overall color palette throughout the schools was outdated, mostly beige or yellow tones that made the spaces feel dull and dim—especially when combined with older lighting and worn flooring.

One unexpected challenge was matching the purple paint to the lockers already installed in the hallways. Since this wasn’t a standard color, we had to custom-match the purple tone to make sure the walls and lockers looked intentional—not mismatched. Getting this right took extra effort but made a big difference in the final result.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

The entire job had to be completed during the short summer break, meaning time was tight and planning was critical. Every task was scheduled with the school calendar in mind, and we worked closely with Flynco and other trades to keep things moving.

Our team painted classroom walls, hallway corridors, metal door frames, and some built-in cabinets. We also sprayed acrylic dryfall on all ceiling grids, helping to brighten the look from top to bottom. In nearly every classroom, three walls were painted a light gray, while the fourth wall became a purple accent wall—matching the school’s official colors. Hallways followed a similar pattern: one wall in light gray, the opposite in a darker gray, with purple accent areas placed throughout.

This new color scheme created a clean, balanced look that brought energy into the classrooms and hallways without being distracting or overwhelming. It was especially important to the district that the colors feel fresh but still reflect school pride.
