4,000 Square Foot Commercial Freezer in Little Rock, AR
CertaPro Painters® of Central Arkansas was contacted to rejuvenate the interior walls of a 4,000 square foot freezer that distributed to big brands, such as McDonalds and Chick-Fil-A. The space had paint chipping off and a lot of wear and tear due to the heavy traffic area. To complete the project, CertaPro Painters® of Central Arkansas crew worked in freezing temperatures and around the logistics of the tractor trailers while the business was running. Deep sanitation for the product was also needed to adhere to the sub-straight.

PROJECT CHALLENGES:Working inside a freezer presented unique obstacles. Temperatures remained below 32°F, requiring a specialty coating that could withstand extreme cold. The existing walls had extensive peeling paint, so we had to start with deep sanitation to ensure proper adhesion of the new coating.
Another challenge was maneuvering around ongoing business operations. With tractor-trailers constantly moving in and out, we had to carefully plan our work schedule to minimize disruption. We used scaffolding to access the full wall height safely and efficiently.
CONDITIONS
- Peeling Paint – There was a lot of peeling paint in the freezer due to everyday wear and tear. It was beginning to fall off onto surfaces, which was an issue for the distributing location.
- On-going Business – The show must go on, and CertaPro Painters® of Central Arkansas made sure this was the case. Hours were negotiated with the tractor trailers and procedures were put in place to minimize disruptions to workers.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
- Painting – For this project, we used Freezer-Kote, a product specifically designed for cold environments. This coating ensures durability in freezing conditions and provides long-term protection against moisture and wear.
- Scaffolding – Scaffolding was used to clean and paint the large freezer area to ensure all areas were sanitized and covered with durable paint.
The project took three weeks from start to finish, balancing efficiency with the necessary surface preparation and application process. Despite the challenges, our team successfully restored the interior walls of the freezer, improving both its functionality and appearance.
