Interior Painting Project at Pleasant Valley Day School

In June 2020, Pleasant Valley Day School contacted CertaPro Painters® of Central Arkansas to complete an interior renovation project. The school for infants and toddlers stretches across 6,800 square feet inside the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock,AR. Pleasant Valley’s interior had gone seven to ten years without receiving any substantial attention in regards to painting. CertaPro’s professionals were well-equipped to transform the interior and bring it back to life.

CHALLENGES:
Projects of this magnitude have their own set of unique challenges. Strong communication within the team and with the schools’s administration is paramount.

Pleasant Valley’s walls also contained a variety of murals that were sanded down and skim coated for a new surface to properly paint. The mural sanding, along with peeling paints and dirt elsewhere, required a HEPA vac for removal of refuse and dust.
CONDITIONS:

  • Peeling Paint – Paint on the walls and cabinets were failing due to the amount of years since its last update
  • Dirt and Grime Accumulation – The buildup of dirt and dust was present, especially in the school cabinets
  • Wall Murals – Wall murals were on display in all five rooms that were painted that required removal
  • Electrical Outlet Exposure – Holes were created due to the removal or relocation of electrical outlets

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

  • Prep – The area was cleaned, sanded, and repaired to create a genuine backdrop for painting
  • Paint – A light grey, semi-gloss pre-catalyzed epoxy was used to coat the walls, frames, cabinets, and wainscot
