We all know that lighting is extremely important when it comes to the ambiance of our home. It helps with creating the mood and making a space more functional. We tend to spend all our time focuses on the main rooms in our homes such as the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedrooms and bathrooms. But what about those spaces we don’t pay as much attention to? The lighting in them still matters! Here is the best lighting for the outside of your home, the home office and entry ways/hallways.
Outdoors – If you are a family that spend a lot of time outdoors the lighting is especially important. During the warmer months it can act as a second living room. Although the aesthetics are important, it is also important to light the outdoors for safety and security purposes. The first thing you want to consider when it comes to outdoor lighting is the durability of the lights. Obviously, they will need to withstand harsh weather conditions.
You want to light close to the house, midrange, and far. At the front door you will want bright lighting. Most people go with two wall-mounted light fixtures.
Home Office – The lighting in a home office is crucial. You want it to stimulate your mind and enhance your productivity. You also need to keep in mind that you need lighting that won’t reflect off your computer screen. The goal is to have a sufficient amount of lighting while minimizing shadows and reflections. A floor lamp is a great option paired with two desk lights on each side of your computer.
Entryways / Hallways – Although these areas seem less important, they are still a part of the home and contribute to the overall mood of the area. Ceiling lighting usually suffices for these spaces. In an entryway you will probably opt for a chandelier whereas in the hallway a simple overhead light will do the job. If you have artwork throughout the hallway you can light the pieces of art with accent lighting
