Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank
Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank is located in Reading, PA in Berks County. Their mission is to feed the hungry by acquiring and distributing food to people in need.
Problem To Be Solved:
Helping Hands Fresh Food Bank approached us in January 2021 to update their Volunteer Office and paint the Loading Area. It involved repairing the drywall and giving the room a fresh coat of paint. The interior Loading Area had recent renovations, including a new floor, so management decided the rest of the Loading Area should be painted the same color scheme as the company’s logo.
The Scope of Work in the Volunteer Office involved repairs to the drywall after removal of large bulletin board and full repaint the office walls and trim. In the Loading Area, there were various metal items including bollards, guardrail, garage door frames, and a large wall vertical wall beam that were rusty and in need of prep, spot prime, and paint.
Problem Solver Solution:
The office repairs included spackle/skim coat, sand, and prime prior to application of topcoat. To clean the CMU block walls and drywall in Loading Area, we manually wiped them down to remove any dirt, cobwebs and debris. All Sherwin Williams products were used – Multi-Surface Acrylic for marginally clean CMU block and walls, Urethane Alkyd Enamel for the rusted metal items and topcoat of Pre-Catalyzed Water Based Epoxy for the doors and trim for its adhesive qualities and durability. The ceiling height in the Loading Area was 26 feet high, therefore, work had to be completed using one 3-story on-site lift as well as ladders.
Final Result:
Overall the project took 5 days to complete. Their management was thrilled with the result and they were excited to reopen the dock for business.
