Residential Project Highlight
Stucco Exterior Painting
In this case study, we recap an exterior painting project that took place in July of 2023 for a house in Collegeville, PA. We detail the highlights from this project below:
Describe the condition of the facility/surfaces at the time work began.
The surfaces at the time our Stucco Painting / Stucco Remediation Service began were in a deteriorated condition. The stucco exterior exhibited signs of wear and tear, including visible cracks, peeling paint, water stains, and some areas with mold growth. Additionally, there were signs of water intrusion, which had the potential to lead to further damage if not addressed promptly.
What did the project involve?
The project primarily involved our comprehensive stucco remediation and painting services. The key steps included power washing the exterior to remove dirt, grime, and loose paint, followed by priming the stucco to create a suitable surface for paint adhesion. The primary focus was on applying two coats of Pro Industrial Loxon XP, a high-quality waterproof application designed to protect the masonry from future damage, such as water intrusion, cracking, and mold growth.
How long did the project take, start to finish?
The duration of project from start to finish took 3 days to complete, which included the time for preparation, power washing, priming, and applying the two coats of Pro Industrial Loxon XP paint.
Were there any special challenges involved?
One of the primary challenges was dealing with the varying degrees of stucco damage and decay on different surfaces. Some areas required more extensive repairs and preparation than others, adding complexity to the project. Additionally, ensuring a uniform finish across the stucco, especially on older surfaces with irregular texture, requires meticulous attention to detail.
Did the project require any special equipment or techniques?
We used industrial-grade power washers to thoroughly clean the stucco surface, removing dirt, grime, and loose paint. The application of Loxon XP paint required the use of specialized paint sprayers, rollers, and tips to ensure even and consistent coats. Additionally, our technicians employed advanced techniques to address cracks and other stucco imperfections, including patching and smoothing to create a seamless surface for painting. Proper safety equipment and precautions were essential, especially when working at heights on multi-story buildings.
