Commercial Project Highlight
Giant Food Stores
In this case study, we recap painting projects that we completed for twelve locally owned Giant Food Stores. We detail the highlights from these projects below:
Describe the condition of the facility/surfaces at the time work began.
The stores were in need of a painting refresh and some light repairs.
What did the project involve?
The project involved light drywall repair, spackle, painting, and electrostatic painting of the registers.
How long did the project take, from start to finish?
Each store had 6 weeks to be completed. Our portion (the painting) took about 2 weeks.
Were there any special challenges involved?
All work had to be completed at night since the stores were remaining open during the refresh. Also, we were working around other contractors, so it was important to stay on schedule so that no one was waiting on us and vice versa.
Did the project require any special equipment or techniques?
We needed scissor lifts to access higher areas. Electrostatic painting needed to be applied to all of the registers. Electrostatic painting is a type of spray coating that is used to efficiently coat a metal substrate by inducing an electrical charge to the paint particles that make up the spray, causing the paint to adhere to the metals’ oppositely charged surface. This is a special technique and requires special equipment to complete. We were fortunate to have a great painter who specializes in this technique and was able to assist us at all of the stores!
