The Best Time of Year to Paint the Exterior of your House

Painting the exterior of your home can be tricky as you are at the mercy of the ever-unpredictable weather conditions. Humidity, temperature, moisture, etc. all have a large impact on how your painting job will turn out. So, when is the ideal time to paint the exterior of your house? Keep reading to find out!
Summer. This is the most obvious time to schedule a painting project. The weather is warm, and the weather tends to be more predictable. However, if you are located in an area that experiences hurricanes toward the end of summer, you will need to make sure you paint in the beginning of summer. Extreme heat or humidity can negatively impact the paint and cause it to bubble. So, if you live in areas with extremely high temperatures you will want to avoid painting directly in the sun.
Fall. This can be an unpredictable season and the temperature fluctuations that occur during these months may cause trouble. If it is hot during the day then drops down to cold temps I the night, the paint will not dry well. If you paint in the fall you will probably want to do it in early fall to avoid this.
Winter. You shouldn’t complete painting projects after November. December, if you are located in warmer states. The cold temperatures and extreme weather conditions make winter an extremely difficult time to complete an exterior painting project.
Spring. A lot of rain can occur during the spring and paint should only be applied to a dry surface. If it rains, you will have to wait at least a day to ensure the surface is completely dry. If it is even the slightest bit wet, you shouldn’t paint. The plus side of painting in spring is this is the time it will be the most seen.
Other factors to consider:
You do not want to paint if there is an extreme in the temperature whether that be hot or cold.
If there is likely to be a drastic temperature drop when the sun goes down, don’t plan a painting project.
