Interior Painters: Holiday Home Decorating for your Paint Colors
Posted on November 18, 2019
Holidays are dominated by red and green. Not so anymore. It seems that anything goes when it comes to holiday decor. We have seen successful uses of lime, aqua, pink and others while cruising through the Christmas Aisle. Here is a holiday home decorating that works with your paint colors from our interior painters.
Before you go all in on a holiday decor theme, be sure you are choosing something that works with your existing decor. The style of your room and paint colors will need to be accounted for when you pick, unless you plan a complete makeover.
Gray
Gray is the new modern neutral, replacing beige. It does a great job making vivid holiday colors stand out against a blank canvas. When dressed with classic greens and accented in reds and golds, this color scheme will sparkle all season.
White
Fresh white walls are ideal as a clean canvas for holiday decor. The colorless backdrop allows you to go as tame or as wild as you like with your decorations. If you’re itching for something less than traditional, consider kelly green, pink or aqua. Pair them with rich blues or silvers to give an unexpected color twist.
Beige
Working with beige doesn’t mean you have to be bland all around. Rustic whites, parchment twine paired with berry reds and rich evergreen will give you a traditional farmhouse feel for the holidays. Boughs of holly can give you a cozy home to celebrate in.
Dark
Dark walls take center stage in any room, decorations or not. Rather than fight the deep hue, work with it. Go with a snowy white color scheme. Nothing is more stunning. Go white with frames, wreaths, lights and garlands. Once the base is lighter, add in little pops of red, gold and green.
Bright
If you are working with brightly colored walls of any other color, use the color wheel. Colors next to each other pair well, and will work as wall and holiday decoration colors. Use this tool to create a cohesive, if not matchy-matchy color plan for your holidays.
