The Village at Rankin
The Village at Rankin is an apartment complex in Greensboro, NC, comprised of 20 buildings with 128 units. A new ownership group decided to invest in a rebranding of the complex. This included new roofing, appliances and external beautification. CertaPro Painters of Greensboro was contacted to repair and paint the complex.
The Problem to be Solved:
The apartment buildings were in rough condition, with extensive wood rot throughout the complex. Wooden railings were disintegrating and privacy fences around the individual patios were falling apart and had, in most cases, to be rebuilt. Additionally, dumpster enclosures needed to be rebuilt as most had decayed from years of deferred maintenance. Many of the buildings had wooden siding that was rotten too, (CertaPro replaced significant sections), as well as replacing damaged vinyl siding. The project was formidable given the extensive amount of work to be completed. An additional challenge was that the complex was almost fully occupied, so the team of experts from CertaPro Painters of Greensboro had to avoid inconveniencing residents. This was particularly challenging when painting the front doors for each unit.
The team began by pressure washing all structures. More rotten wood was exposed and extensive carpentry work had to be done across the complex, along with substantial detail work across the 128 units. CertaPro Painters of Greensboro utilized three different crews simultaneously to keep the project on track and moving forward. The crews also had to coordinate the logistics of ordering, prepping and storing significant amounts of lumber and other materials as well as ensuring proper disposal of resulting construction waste.
Final Result:
In total, it took 11 weeks from March to May of 2022 to complete the project. During that time, numerous residents expressed their pleasure and appreciation of the work being done to positively change their living area.
