Fall Season Painting with CertaPro Painters® of the Greater Lehigh Valley

Posted on November 12, 2021

Can you paint your house in the fall? The true answer is, it all depends, especially regarding exterior painting. If winter is coming in quickly and heavily, it may be best to hold off. However, if winter is taking its time, an exterior painting project could be in your favor.

Regardless of your decision, we at CertaPro Painters® of the Greater Lehigh Valley are very experienced in painting and have a number of suggestions & considerations below to assist you in planning a painting project in the fall.

Type of Paint & Weather

When using latex house paint it’s best for the temperature to be at least 35 degrees Fahrenheit but ideally between 60 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, Fall can be a sweet spot between the extreme heat of the summer months and the extreme cold of the winter months. This can allow for a more optimal painting experience due to less weather based interruptions and wear & tear of paint jobs.

Scheduling & Planning Ahead

The fall season can have more flexibility as the busy summer season can have a backlog which may be finished near the fall. Which can lead to more availability. But keep in mind that the window can be shorter due to the unpredictability of the weather. However, the tradeoff is that the time between an estimate and job completion can be shorter in the fall season due to fall being less busy than the summer.

Interior Painting

Exterior painting can be more riskier in the fall due to the unpredictable weather. However, interior painting is PERFECT for the fall. You can control the temperature and humidity while warming up your home for the holidays.
