We are looking for dedicated, skilled Job Site Supervisors and painters to join our traveling teams. CertaPro Painters of Grand Rapids is a leading provider of high-quality commercial and residential painting services for clients across Michigan. We specialize in medium-to- large-scale interior and exterior projects, delivering exceptional results on tight deadlines.

What we're looking for

As a Traveling Commercial Painting Crew, you will be a vital part of our mobile team, working at various customer locations to complete painting and general repair jobs. This role requires extensive travel and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure all projects meet our high standards and client requirements. The ideal Crew will have at least 2-4 qualified painters.

General Job Responsibilities and Required Skills
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces such as siding, walls, ceilings, and trim for painting by scraping, sanding, patching holes/cracks, and cleaning.
  • Painting & Finishing: Apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment (airless sprayers, HVLP systems).
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work meets quality standards and client specifications. Perform touch-ups or repairs as needed.
  • Equipment Management: Set up, maintain, and take down equipment such as scaffolding, ladders, and safety gear. Clean and maintain all tools and equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all workplace safety rules and OSHA ladder safety regulations.
  • Documentation & Communication: Review job details, provide progress updates, and communicate effectively with site managers, the Sales Team, and Production Managers.
  • Adaptability: Adjust to different worksite conditions, climates, and client preferences across various locations.
  • Extensive Travel: Position requires travel up to 75–100% of the time, including overnight and out-of-town work throughout the state and Great Lakes region.
  • Rotation: Typical travel rotations last 1–4 consecutive weeks on-site.
  • Logistics: Company-paid lodging and daily per diem provided for travel.
  • Professionalism: Professional conduct during travel is required, including substance-free behavior and adherence to hotel/rental agreements.
  • Experience: 2+ years of commercial or industrial painting experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in brushing, rolling, spraying, and surface preparation.
  • Physical Stamina: Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs repeatedly, work at heights on ladders/scaffolding, and perform duties in various weather conditions.
  • Tools: Must have a full set of basic painting tools (sprayers, power washers, ladders, brushes, rollers, extension poles, putty knives, caulk guns, etc.).
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, reliability, adaptability, and excellent customer service.
  • Requirements: Must pass a background check and motor vehicle report. Liability Insurance and/or Workers Compensation required. Valid driver’s license and a crew of at least 2–4 painters needed.
Compensation

Competitive pay (based upon experience) plus per diem and company-paid lodging when traveling.
