CertaPro Painters® of Glen Ellyn Volunteers for Outreach House

In early May 2025, Hester B., one of our previous customers, reached out to me. Hester sits on the board of “Outreach House”, a Lombard, Illinois-based non-profit organization that provides compassionate and effective assistance to individuals and families in need. “Outreach House” provides a variety of services, including a food pantry, clothes closet, and walk-in assistance to prevent utility shutoffs.

“Outreach House” had outgrown their previous space and were hoping to move into a new facility located at 700 Springer Drive, Lombard, IL 60148 by July 2025. The only way that this was going to happen was if various volunteers would provide free labor to get the facility up and running by July 2025. Hester, knowing that I am the owner of CertaPro Painters of Glen Ellyn, reached out to me asking if I would be willing to help. How could I say “no”?

Starting in late May and ending in late June, CertaPro Painters of Glen Ellyn contributed to over 150-man hours to the project. Although someone had donated most of the paint needed for the project, the project still needed paint colors for the accent walls that contained the 4 or 5 unique colors that are present in Outreach House’s logo. Knowing this, I reached out to the Sherwin-Williams store in Glen Ellyn and asked if they would be willing to donate the paint for the accent walls. Not only did Sherwin-Williams donate about $1,000 worth of paint, but they were also able to match the unique colors perfectly.

Due to the hard work of Catherine Lynott and her team at Outreach House, the new facility was up and running in July. Once everyone caught their breath, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place in September 2025. There, Catherine Lynott and her team at Outreach House were able to personally thank all the volunteers who helped to make this incredible event possible. They unveiled a sign near the front desk that lists all the volunteers who contributed to the project. Yes, I am proud to see CertaPro Painters of Glen Ellyn on that sign. More importantly, I am glad that I was part of something very special that will give back to the community for a very long time.
