Our painters were recently called out to a local fire & rescue building for an interior painting service. This project consisted of repainting the interior walls, doors, door frames, & window frames of the New Baltimore Fire & Rescue Company Building in Warrenton, Virginia. The Fire & Rescue building had not been painted in years and was in need of a re-fresh for a more aesthetically pleasing look for the staff. You can learn more details about this commercial painting project below.
About the Project
Condition of Facility:
The building’s interior had not been painted in over 10-15 years and the surfaces were dingy and dull. Although the client decided to keep the same color scheme for the walls and accent walls, the fresh coat of paint really brightened up the rooms and made it more pleasing to the eye.
Project Involvement:
This project involved typical paint preparation of pre-cleaning the walls and trim, and scraping/sanding any loose or peeling paint before applying the top coats.
Special Challenges:
The challenge of this project was our team having to paint during the non-stop working hours of an operational Fire & Rescue Company House, with the volunteer fire & rescue workers on-site during the project. Our paint team had to be aware & sensitive of the volunteer fire & rescue worker’s routines. We had to coordinate a schedule that didn’t disrupt the workers sleep schedule, and had to implement a plan for evacuation in case they had to respond to an emergency and leave the fire station. Our team was not allowed to be in the building by themselves and had to constantly be aware of their evacuation route in each area they were painting in the case of an emergency.
