Interior Painting Services in Arlington, VA
Catholic High School Painting Project
A Catholic High School in Arlington, Virginia was looking to refresh the condition and look of their interior as part of a large renovation project in advance of the upcoming school year. Specifically, the school was looking to refresh and refurbish the overall color palette of 27 classrooms, 2 stairwells, the cafeteria, as well as their exterior placard for a more aesthetically pleasing look for school management, staff, students, and prospective families.
The project included proper coordination to ensure the high school services to staff, students, contractors, and patrons were not disrupted. We supported the school operations by coordinating with the designated project manager to complete the tasks at the specified dates and times. Our goal was to complete this project at the dates and time specified and agreed upon by the school in coordination with CertaPro Painters so that the school could continue to operate smoothly during and after the project in the lead-up to the start of the new academic year.
Our goal was to deliver the customer service and results envisioned by the High School and its staff. We provided the services, craftsmanship, and technical expertise needed to achieve the desired outcome reconditioned the paintable surfaces, and restored their protective properties. Thanks to the strong communication and project planning as well as the working partnership with the project manager throughout the project, we were able to stay on schedule and complete the project on time delivering on our promises.
We look forward to continuing to work with the school on more projects in the future!
Condition of Property:
The painting project, as contracted with CertaPro, was part of an overall larger renovation that included, among other tasks, abatement and floor installation. For our part, we were tasked with the responsibility of properly prepping surfaces that were to be painted. Overall, we performed skilled Level-3 Professional Preparation which included patching holes, repairing cracks and surface damages, scraping to remove failing and loose paint until a firm edge was reached, sanding to smoothen sharp edges for a more uniform finish, caulking open seams, and spot priming any bare substrates and/or new substrate repair work prior to painting to permit proper adherence of the topcoat(s) of paint.
Project Involvement:
In completing this project, we used the best quality products including Sherwin Williams, Pro Industrial Pre-Catalyzed Waterbased Epoxy in both an eggshell finish for walls and ceilings and a semi-gloss finish for all trim, window framing, and doors/frames. The requested color for the interior components was the Sherwin Williams color Snowbound. For the exterior placard, we used Sherwin Williams, Duration Exterior Acrylic Latex in a Low Luster Finish.
In so doing, we followed Sherwin-William’s specifications in regard to preparation and applied wet film thickness to all products. These premium coatings far surpass other quality paints guaranteeing great lasting results that enhanced the property’s appearance.
All paint was applied in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s minimum recommendations and was applied using brush/roller and/or spraying equipment with back rolling to avoid any defects, streaks, and sagging.
Special Challenges:
The project involved professional and timely coordination leading up to, during, and after the project to ensure the smooth and efficient completion of the project while working alongside separate contractors. Proper communication and coordination were vital for delivering a project on time and up to expectations with the start of the school year quickly following the work.
The project was completed safely and efficiently. It did require the use of ladders to efficiently and safely access elevated areas, particularly in the stairwells as well as difficult and challenging painting areas throughout the designated painting areas.

Phase 2 of Catholic High School Project – Ceiling Work
The painting project, as contracted with CertaPro, was the 2nd phase of a multi-year larger renovation that included, among other tasks, abatement and floor installation.
In addition, we were contracted to perform Level-3/Level-4 finishing work to all ceilings included within the scope of work upon the completion of asbestos abatement. This included mudding/skimming and filling concrete divots of all designated concrete ceilings with USG Sheetrock Cover Coat and Durabond 90 compound prior to priming and painting. This ensured the ceilings would have a more uniform finish and appearance.
