Underground Parking Garage Repaint in Alexandria, VA

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

Over the course of the project, our team repainted approximately 39,000 square feet of walls, columns, and structural components throughout the garage.

The scope of work included concrete block and drywall walls, concrete columns, metal air vents, I-beams, bollards, parking bumpers, and various doors and frames.

PROJECT INVOLVMENT:

Several repairs were required before painting could begin. We performed drywall ceiling repairs where past water leaks had caused damage and skim coated two concrete block walls to create a smooth Level 5 finish, preparing them for future murals.

The metal I-beams presented another challenge: old, peeling paint had to be completely scraped away before proper priming and painting could ensure long-term adhesion and durability.

We applied two fresh coats of paint across the space to significantly brighten the environment and also added color-coded wayfinding stripes on the columns to help distinguish different parking areas—enhancing both aesthetics and usability.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES:

Because this was a functional, in-use parking garage, careful coordination was key. We developed a detailed production plan with a visual timeline that outlined which parking spaces would be temporarily closed each day.

Using cones and caution tape, we safely navigated around daily traffic and parked cars while maintaining strong communication with the facility staff to keep residents informed throughout the project.

PROJECT TIMELINE:
