Making Your House a Home for the Holiday Season
Posted on August 29, 2019
Fall is the season when most people get into the holiday spirit. The weather gets cooler, decorations come out of storage, and everyone starts thinking about Halloween, Thanksgiving and then the big one – Hanukkah or Christmas. So, now is the perfect time to get your house ready for all of the visitors you may have coming during the holiday season. The following MUST Dos will help you prepare.
Clean, Clean and Clean
The summer’s heat was way too much to comfortably clean the inside and outside of your home. Now that it’s cooler, start cleaning. This means cleaning the inside and outside of your house. Of course, as the leaves fall, you’ll have those to clean up too.
As part of this cleaning, you may want to consider pressure washing your sidewalk, walkway, patio or front porch. This can get all of the grime and dirt off it that wasn’t removed after winter and Spring.
Exterior and Interior Painting
The fall is the perfect time to paint your home. You can simply refresh the paint that’s already on the exterior or walls, or you can choose new colors for a completely different look. This can really make an impression on your visitors.
There are some people who will paint the inside of their home fall like colors, such as brown, orange, or a darker red. Of course, this may seem out of place in the summer time, these colors do really well during the fall and winter months.
Kitchen Cabinet Painting
The kitchen is where everyone congregates, and it’s truly the heart of the home. You can make this room come alive with different color cabinets. You can turn white cabinets to black, or vice versa. Or, you can even choose an off-white color or a bright red. The color you choose really depends on the theme of the room. A color consultant would be the perfect person to help you select the perfect color for your kitchen cabinets.
Painting isn’t the only thing you can do to cabinet – you can re-stain them as well. This can make it look completely new again. You have choices when it comes to staining cabinets too. You can stain it light or dark. Again, the shade you choose has everything to do with the theme of your kitchen and the look you want for it.
