When is the Best Time to Paint Your El Paso Home?

Although it is possible to complete exterior painting year-round, is there a superior time of the year to get exterior house painting completed? We encounter several El Paso homeowners that wonder the same thing.

The weather is obviously the deciding factor when it comes to exterior painting and there are a couple months out of the year that seem to consistently provide the best weather conditions for exterior painting projects. Heat, cold, humidity and moisture all have a negative impact on exterior painting. Extreme heat and humidity will cause the paint to not dry properly causing bumps, bubbles, discoloration, cracking, lifting, peeling, etc. Humidity and will cause the paint not to adhere properly at all.

But let’s be honest, how often is it that we aren’t experiencing one of those four weather patterns? There is no one best time to paint the exterior of your house. For our team, we have found taking proper caution, checking the weather forecast for the week and scheduling around the weather seems to be the best option. Some general patterns we look out for are:

June and July bring some of the hottest temps so we typically wait for an overcast day to paint during these months. We see a lot of rain in August so we look out for a dry couple of days in the forecast before we being the painting project.

During the winter months we take caution that the temps don’t drop too low because this will cause the paint to become chalky, chip and peel.

April tends to be a safe bet because it is fairly dry.
