In September of 2020, CertaPro Painters of Tucson completed an exterior stucco repair and restoration project for a home in Vail. To ensure a uniform appearance and long-lasting quality, the home underwent a detailed process of power washing, scraping, and repainting its damaged stucco. In addition to restoring the stucco to its original beauty, multiple cracks in the surface had to filled to prevent moisture damage to the home itself. At the end of the three-day project, the client was pleased to see their home’s stucco returned to its original beauty and adequately protected against the extreme conditions of Arizona weather.

CHALLENGES:The stucco was uneven and in disrepair throughout the exterior of the home, making the job itself extensive and the goal of a uniform paint job much more difficult. The project required a crew with extensive experience in residential stucco repair to guarantee the stucco matched the home’s custom texture.
CONDITIONS:
- Poor Patching – The stucco patching was poorly applied for an unprofessional look to the exterior of the home
- Mismatched Colors – Previous repair attempts were done with a different color stucco, creating a two-tone effect on the home
- Uneven Surface – The patching was not smoothed out, removing any smooth qualities the residence previously had
- Moisture Exposure – As the stucco aged and became more uneven, cracks formed that allowed moisture to further damage the home’s exterior
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Prep – Sanding and smoothing out the exterior was the main task to prepare for painting
- Restoration – To provide not only an even paintjob but one that protects the home, cracks had to be filled with elastopatch
- Paint – The exterior stucco was repainted for a smooth and uniform look to revive its curb appeal
