Trendy or not? – 2021 Design Ideas

Posted on August 2, 2021

When we welcomed in 2020, we also welcomed new design ideas! The trends of the past decade are behind us and we are ready to see what’s in store for this upcoming decade. It can be difficult to keep up with what’s in style and what’s not, so we are here to help. Keep reading to see which designs will be trendy for 2020 and which will not. Some of them may surprise you!

All Gray – Gray will be left in the past decade. It became widely popular over the past couple years and people began designing rooms that only consisted of different shades of gray and white. You will not see this trend nearly as much as we enter the next decade. This is mainly due to the fact that people are starting to recognize the lack of warmth and welcome the color gray provides to a room.

Grand-millennial Style – Basically, think of your grandmother’s house and modern style combined. If you have an appreciation for the past, you will enjoy this trend. You want to incorporate things like natural fiber rugs, scallops, chinoiserie, and topiaries. But you want to incorporate clean lined furniture and modern art.

Monochromatic Color Schemes – Pick a bold color and use that color in pretty much the entire room. This will be extremely
trendy over the next year, but we don’t think this trend will last for very long.

Mixing Old and New – This is similar to the Grand-millennial style talked about above. This trend basically means keep everything fairly modern but then adding in antique pieces or older styles.

Sleek and Modern – In the past decade we saw a lot of “perfectionism” when it came to home design. Everything was all white and sleek and almost felt sterile. This look will not be popular in the years to come.

Earth Tones – As gray is on its way out, warm earth tones will soon take its place. Brown, olive green, jewel yellow and wine colors will be the most desired colors.
