CertaPro Painters of Chattanooga recently completed an exterior commercial paint job for Storage Sense. The doors at the location were originally light pink due to years of exposure to direct sunlight and frequent use, resulting in chipping paint. Our team transformed them into a bright maroon color matching the company logo. Red paints can be challenging due to their lower coverage and hiding power, primarily caused by the limited use of titanium dioxide in darker colors. To address this, our skilled painters developed an efficient method that allowed for reduced paint usage while achieving better coverage and hiding ability, all at a lower cost for our customer.

The project encompassed exterior painting. Prior to our arrival, the doors at this location had faded to a light pink due to years of exposure to direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions. Additionally, extensive use by customers had caused the paint to chip. However, after our expert team completed the project, the doors underwent a remarkable transformation. They were not only free from chips and scrapes but also showcased a vibrant maroon color, perfectly aligning with the company’s logo.
Special Challenges:
The challenge with red paints lies in their chemical composition, making it tricky to achieve excellent coverage and hiding power. All paints contain a critical ingredient, titanium dioxide, responsible for providing this hiding power. However, in the case of darker colors like red, a reduced amount of titanium dioxide is used because it’s naturally white. Adding too much titanium dioxide to darker paint colors, such as red, can result in an undesirable pink tint rather than the intended red hue. To overcome this issue, our skilled painters devised a unique method for painting the doors, which not only required less paint but also significantly improved coverage and hiding ability. This innovative approach allowed us to deliver a superior result and offer our customer a more cost-effective solution for painting all the storage doors.
