4 Reasons to Do Interior Painting in the Summer

Posted on May 30, 2019

While many homeowners take advantage of being locked in the house all winter to accomplish interior painting projects, the summer is a great time to take them on. The warm summer months are the perfect time to open the windows and take to the walls. Here are 4 reasons to do interior painting in the summer.

Considering many of us have just finished our spring cleaning, it’s the perfect time to update the color of our walls and finish off the house. The perks of summer painting are hard to resist.

Air Out

Air out the house by opening the windows. This will provide you ventilation as well while you are painting your rooms. Painting inside can cause odors to take over your home, but with the windows open and a nice summer breeze coming in, the stink can be whisked away. Add some fans to the breeze and your walls will be dry in no time.

Warmth to Dry

The warmer weather means your project will enjoy expedited dry times. When you spackle and prime your walls, you dry time could be cut in half compliments of warm weather and sunny breezes. Then after your painting is done, you’ll have a similar drying time. This means you could feasibly put more than one coat on your walls in a day, a feat that is hard to accomplish in the cold, wet months of winter.

Thinner Paint

Warm temperatures make your paint thinner than the cold temperatures. This means easier rolling and brushing on the walls. You’ll have less issues with overloading the brush and drips from sticky paint consistency. The application is made easier with this in comparison to cold weather.

Natural Light

The summer months provide you brighter and more sunlight to see what you are doing. The rays will give you more natural light for longer to work with in the daytime. The sunlight gives you the best option to see your color and its reaction with light. It provides a good way to see light, shadows, shading and holidays, so you can correct color problems and missed spots while your working.
