CertaPro Painters and Raven Rock Ramble Raise $500K for Kidney Disease

On May 5th, 2024, hundreds of cyclists gathered at the Raven Rock Ramble to raise funds for kidney education and outreach. Among them were various local companies and CertaPro Painters® Cary-Apex, NC, a long-standing sponsor, and a company that takes pride in giving back to the community. Together with David Cole, a kidney transplant recipient, and his team, they have raised over $500,000 over the past 23 years to support the UNC Kidney Center, a leading institution dedicated to providing care for those who suffer from various kidney-related diseases.
David Cole’s story is one of resilience, courage, and strength. Twenty-three years ago, he received the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with nephropathy and kidney disease. His health declined, and his kidneys failed, requiring a transplant. But instead of giving up, he decided to act. He organized a cycling event to raise awareness and funds for kidney education and outreach, inspiring others to join him in the fight against this terrible disease.
It is estimated that 1 in 7 American adults are affected by kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney disease (CKD). Currently, 37 million adults suffer from it. Despite its prevalence, it is often overlooked and underfunded, leaving patients and families struggling to cope with the physical, emotional, and financial tolls of the disease.
CertaPro Painters® Cary-Apex, NC is a company that deeply cares about its community. As part of its commitment to supporting kidney disease education and prevention annually, CertaPro has been involved in the Raven Rock Ramble. This event is just one example of the company’s dedication to this cause. With the funds raised, the UNC Kidney Center will be able to continue its vital work in the fight against kidney cancer.
