Multi-Building Apartment Complex Painting Project in Louisville, Colorado
A multi-building apartment complex located in Louisville, CO called our Certapro team for exterior painting services to the building. One of the three large apartment buildings had a different siding style than the other two and was in significantly worse condition. The team at CertaPro Painters of Boulder and Longmont stepped in to handle this paint project. CHALLENGES:
CHALLENGES:There was extensive caulking and priming around new window trim, including metal-specific oil-based primer for flashing pieces.
We needed to do an extreme color conversion on railings from white to charcoal which required 3 coats for coverage.
These buildings were all constructed at various times. One of the three large apartment buildings had a different siding substrate than the other two and was in significantly worse condition. Surfaces in poor condition required hand scraping and a full coat of primer prior to painting.
CONDITIONS:
- One of the three large apartment buildings had a different siding substrate.
- Apply two beads of elastomeric caulking around every window given recent replacement.
- Caulk or putty and prime brand new trim around all windows.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Paint – Required hand scraping and a full coat of primer.
- Wood trim – New bare wood trim boards around every window.

Started: September 2018
Duration: 5.5 weeks, which included a 1 week delay for rain in the middle

These buildings were all constructed at various times. One of the three large apartment buildings had a different siding style than the other two and was in significantly worse condition. Every piece had flaking and peeling paint that required hand scraping and a full coat of primer.
THE FINAL RESULTS
We had the windows in each building replaced. The building had new bare wood window trim. To prepare these, we applied a premium grade exterior wood primer, plus high quality elastomeric caulking. No special equipment was needed for this project. The apartment complex hired us the following year to complete the full interior repaint of all common areas in the buildings.
