Georgia State Capitol Building – Part 2
December 2018 – After a successful project that called for the recoating and application of slip resistant surfaces for all four exterior-entrance staircases at the Georgia State Capitol Building during the previous summer, CertaPro Painters of Atlanta had the distinct privilege of assisting our friends on Capitol Hill once again with their painting needs.
The State of Georgia facility managers contacted the CertaPro Painters of Altanta Commercial team when the Capitol, a building built in 1889, was ready for drywall and ceiling work, as well as repainting at several interior locations, including:
- The respective chamber of the Senate and House of Representatives
- An upper hallway adjacent to the House Chamber
- A 4th floor stairwell on the NW corner of the building
Prior to any work commencing, and in order to be as least impactful as possible of the building’s daily activities, CertaPro Painters of Atlanta met with the representatives of the building to outline a full logistics plan for working on-site. During the course of the work, CertaPro Painters of Atlanta dealt with several special circumstances that required additional care and planning to include:
- Working in and around a historic building
- Advanced planning to compensate for the busy Georgia General Assembly sessions, as well as the high public traffic that a facility of that nature sees daily
- Challenging access issues during the project
- Working within a high security access area, requiring background checks for all parties
Coatings used during this project included premium Sherwin Williams products throughout.
