Exterior Colors to Pair with Brick in Arvada

Posted on March 28, 2020

Homes in our area have a lot of character, and by character, we’re talking about brick and stone elements. Working a color palette around the colors within brick and stone can prove challenging, but when done successfully, you’ll have a charming home to show off. Here are the best exterior colors to pair with brick in Arvada.

Since brick naturally has variances in the colors, you will need to keep that in mind when choosing a color to go with it. The color can be overwhelming when it’s paired with equally bright colors. For example, a bright white against a red brick will feel harsh. Rather, choose a creamy off white to allow the brick to shine through without seeming bright.

Next, you’ll want to choose a color that compliments the reds and burgundies in brick. This is where homeowners often feel lost. Within the variations of the red, there are colors that will work really well to create a cohesive and stunning palette. Here are some complementary colors to get started.

Sherwin Williams Creamy SW 7012

This color is a great match for the brick because it pulls from the gray of the mortar with a warm tone. Rather than choosing white, aim here. It’s a warm off-white that doesn’t use any yellow. It’s the perfect combination of cool tones to warm brick for a perfect brick home.

Benjamin Moore Black HC-190

While the name is black, the color is not. This is a great option from Benjamin Moore to pair muted red bricks with an equally muted charcoal color. The result is a beautiful timeless look that also feels modern and stylish.

Keystone Gray SW 7504

Sherwin Williams gets another nod with Keystone Gray which offers a gray neutral with a red undertone to bring the brick into the palette. It’s a nod to the greige that is so popular inside homes now and making the jump to exteriors.

Stone Hearth CC-490

Benjamin Moore’s Stone Hearth is a natural fit to brick. It’s a muted color that will not only pair well with the brick, it also allows the color and brick to work together in a symbiotic relationship. The color seems dark, but when used on an exterior, it appears lighter, making your home feel perfectly welcoming.

Dark Night SW 6237

Particularly in our area, we have the option of using vibrant and deep exterior colors. Some locales are not so lucky since the sun will leach the colors out. Because of this, try using Dark Night with your bricks. The not quite navy blue reigns in the warm tones of brick and offers a deep neutral color. It’s a stylish and trend-focused color to consider.

Dark Hunter Green SW 0041

Dark Hunter Green works similarly to the navy blues we have mentioned. The color is deep in color but reads as a neutral on your home. The color is far enough off of Christmas green to avoid feeling like a yuletide home 100% of the year. When paired with bricks, it feels like a naturally suited color.

Salamander 2050-10

When you are working with a bright new brick, using a dark color can help mute the color some. Because the sun’s rays aren’t as harsh as other parts of the country, the color will remain intact for much longer. The dark hue will read as stately and luxurious while the bricks add a bit of whimsy.
