In particular, the heavy silver and white of the old interiors was replaced by a modernist color contrast of black walls with hardwood flooring. PROJECT DETAILS:
Since the retail outlet was functioning during the update of the colors, our crew worked during off times. We made sure the painting was completed and dried for daily store operations. Dry times were worked into the scheduling so that merchandise could be replaced before opening the store for the day.
The retail store had undergone regular maintenance, so the conditions of the walls were fairly good. With the exception of a few bumps and bangs here and there from everyday shopping wear and tear, the walls needed very little in the way of repairs. As far as corporate and store management was concerned, achieving the new color scheme was the penultimate goal.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

BEFORE PHOTOS
The retailer was mostly white, with a light painted ceiling. These colors didn’t meet the brand standards created from corporate Banana Republic. Besides being off-brand, the light colors are hard to maintain in a high touch environment like a retail store. Employees moving interchangeable shelving and racks in addition to careless shoppers can leave the walls looking dingy very quickly.
IN PROGRESS
Our team added new, darker paint to the ceiling and walls. This color palette allows the merchandise on display to take center stage. Our painting team worked overnight, making sure to wrap up with enough time to dry and replace merchandise before the store’s open hours for the day. The largest challenge was delicate painting around the pin lighting elements on the ceiling but with careful taping and attention to detail, they were able to complete it.
COMPLETED PHOTOS
The final result of our work is a crisp peppercorn color on the walls and ceilings. The dark walls pair nicely with the light-colored natural flooring and checkout area. The high ceiling with spotlighting allows clothes to be on display, instead of plain white walls. This color choice is good for hiding the dings that happen in high traffic, high touch area like a retail store with heavy foot traffic.
