{"id":1807,"date":"2021-02-16T15:04:10","date_gmt":"2021-02-16T20:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/certapro.com\/reading\/?page_id=1807"},"modified":"2022-05-12T11:19:49","modified_gmt":"2022-05-12T15:19:49","slug":"rolling-vs-spraying","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/certapro.com\/reading\/learning-hub\/rolling-vs-spraying\/","title":{"rendered":"Paint Rolling vs Spraying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are benefits to both spraying and rolling your interior or exterior \u2013 let\u2019s review them:<\/p>\n<h3>Paint spraying:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Is a faster way to apply paint to your exterior or empty interior because you can apply two coats simultaneously without the need to dry between coats<\/li>\n<li>Requires extensive preparation of the surface before spraying<\/li>\n<li>Requires plastic masking for all areas that will not be painted<\/li>\n<li>Requires expensive spraying equipment<\/li>\n<li>Must be done where or when wind is not a factor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1731\" src=\"https:\/\/pub-9fc1f065f07e441b8f35365c774f09ae.r2.dev\/uploads\/sites\/1160\/2020\/10\/paint-spraying.jpg\" alt=\"paint spraying\" width=\"180\" height=\"274\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Paint rolling:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Is slower, but is much easier to touch up<\/li>\n<li>Does not require specialized equipment<\/li>\n<li>Less paint is wasted from atomization and \u201cbounce-back\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Paint spraying with back rolling \u2013 the best of both techniques:<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spraying quickly lays on a layer of paint<\/li>\n<li>Back rolling provides texture for easier touch-up in future<\/li>\n<li>Achieves coverage advantages of both spraying and rolling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For exteriors, we often spray the paint on and then back roll. This allows us to paint faster (and less expensively for our customers) while providing a quality coat of<\/p>\n<p>paint using the back-rolling technique.
