1. Red

Red does not have to be aggressive our ‘loud’ . Depending on the shade and other decorations in the room it can be a calm and comforting color. We love the look of the room pictured below with detailed white trim and wainscoting.

2. Blue

Blue is the color most of us would pick when asked what the most relaxing color is. After all it has been shown to lower blood pressure. If you pick a blue shade for your bedroom walls you will want to pair it with darker décor to warm the room up. White accents, gold, and pink can all work well as complimentary colors to a blue room.

3. Purple

Purple needs to be done in moderation. It can tend to be overwhelming. If you are choosing a deeper shade of purple, you will probably want to stick to an accent wall. However, a lilac color can be a relaxing shade for the entire room. Pictured below is a good example of a room with a darker shade of purple being used as an accent wall for the bed to sit against.

4. Yellow

Yellow, the color of the sun! There is no denying that it is a happy color that evokes uplifting feelings. If you are looking for a color to boost energy, then yellow is a good option. However, it stimulates the nerves which can cause individuals to have a quicker temper and can even make babies cry. If you like the color yellow but don’t want it to be too overwhelming, consider making it the accent color in the room.

You may not think of green when picking out paint colors, but the right shade could look great in a bedroom. It is the combination of blue and yellow and is found to be quite relaxing.
