The team at CertaPro Painters® of New Orleans, LA completed this exterior paint refresh. For this type of project, we begin by washing or wiping down all surfaces to be painted, followed by scraping and sanding any loose or peeling paint. While this process improves adhesion, it does not result in a completely smooth finish—some variation will remain where paint was removed. We spot-prime bare wood and metal surfaces, excluding areas being stained, and complete any necessary window glazing. Putty, caulking, and wood filling are applied where needed, focusing on areas with missing or failing material. Masonry patching is done as required, though the new patches may not match the original texture exactly.
Unless otherwise specified in the proposal, preparation does not include wood replacement, feather sanding or bondo application, full recaulking where existing caulk was still intact, rebuilding damaged trim or siding, or stripping existing coatings.
