Signs your deck needs carpentry repairs<\/h3>\n

Peeling Paint<\/strong> – If the paint is peeling up, and showing visible raw wood underneath, there is a good chance there is water damage, and the boards should be replaced.<\/p>\n

Soft \/ Rotted Wood<\/strong> – Take the tip of a Flathead screwdriver and press it gently against the wood, if it cracks or caves in, there is a problem and the wood should be replaced.<\/p>\n

Check the posts –\u00a0<\/strong>The main structural supports of the deck usually are the last things to wear out, however water can accumulate at the base of the post and cause damage, inspect these areas closely.<\/p>\n

Even well maintained decks need some wood replacement after years of use. If your home as a deck, especially one that is raised and could cause harm from falling wood, you should just go ahead and repair it.<\/p>\n
