Kitchen Cabinet Transformation

The Task:

We were hired to update the look in the customer’s kitchen cabinets in Minneapolis. After deciding on their color, we proceeded to transform the space. We first removed the cabinet doors and all the hardware. We then set up a paint booth to spray all surfaces in order to obtain a nice quality finish. The kitchen boxes, floor and appliances are covered to prevent over spray. The walls would also be covered if they were not to be painted. In this situation we were going to paint the walls, so there was no need to cover them. All surfaces were scuff sanded and then we applied one coat of oil-based primer to create a good anchoring surface for the topcoat and to prevent the tannins in the wood to bleed through the topcoat giving the finish a “yellowish” look. We then applied two coats of Emerald Urethane Enamel. This is an excellent product for this type of application since it provides a beautiful smooth finish.

The Work:

CertaPro Painters of Minneapolis South & St. Louis Park carefully removed the cabinet doors and all the hardware, ensuring that the pieces were fully detached before painting. Our team set up a paint booth to spray all surfaces. To protect the surrounding areas, we covered the kitchen boxes, floor, and appliances with protective sheeting to prevent any overspray from damaging these surfaces. Once the area was set up, we began prepping the surfaces. All painted surfaces were scuff-sanded to create a slightly rough texture. We then applied one coat of oil-based primer. This primer creates a strong and stable surface for the topcoat and prevents any tannins from the wood from bleeding through the finish. Without the primer, the tannins could cause the paint to develop a yellowish hue, which would negatively affect the final appearance. After the primer dried, we applied Emerald Urethane Enamel. This product is specifically chosen for its excellent performance in high-traffic areas like kitchens. Not only does it offer a beautiful, smooth finish, but it is also durable and resistant to stains and wear.

Final Results:

The client’s kitchen cabinets were completely transformed by CertaPro Painters of Minneapolis South & St. Louis Park with a fresh and updated look that aligned with their vision.
