After your painting project is complete and your surfaces are newly painted, it\u2019s important to understand how to care for them and any excess paint that is leftover. This can help you ensure they last as long as possible and you have the materials you need in case a touch-up is needed years later.<\/p>\n

Our team at CertaPro Painters of Indianapolis would like to share some frequently asked questions we hear from our customers, to help you better understand how to care for your newly painted surfaces.<\/p>\n

1. What happens if there is tinted paint leftover at the end of my project?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If there is tinted paint leftover at the end of your project, it is yours to keep. The Crew Leader will leave it with you, if there is any leftover, once your project is completed.<\/p>\n

2. Where should I store the leftover paint?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You should always store your leftover paint and paint in general, in a safe and climate-controlled space. Storing paint in spaces that are too hot or too cold can be harmful, so it\u2019s best to find a space without extreme temperatures.<\/p>\n

3. How long should I wait for my interior paint to cure?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve had an interior painting project completed, you need to wait 48 hours<\/strong> (after your project has been completed) for your paint to be fully cured.<\/p>\n

4. What activities should I wait to do until my interior paint is cured?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Until your interior paint is fully cured, and it has been 48 hours<\/strong> since your project was completed, you should refrain from doing these types of activities:
\nHanging pictures
\nWiping walls (Note: Do not use \u201cheavy\u201d cleaners for 21 days<\/strong>)
\nVacuuming next to baseboards
\nPlacing items on painted shelves
\nShowering in painted or papered baths<\/p>\n

5. How long should I wait for my exterior paint to cure?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve had an exterior painting project completed, you need to wait 48 hours<\/strong> (after your project has been completed) for your paint to be fully cured.<\/p>\n

6. What activities should I wait to do until my exterior paint is cured?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Until your exterior paint is fully cured, and it has been 48 hours<\/strong> since your project was completed, you should refrain from doing these types of activities:
\nLocking painted doors or windows
\nWalking on painted surfaces
\nWashing painted siding<\/p>\n

7. How often should I open and close my painted doors and windows?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve had any doors or windows painted, there are additional precautions you can take to ensure they are cared for after project completion. We recommend opening and closing all painted doors and windows once or twice a day for three or four days to help prevent them from sticking shut.<\/p>\n
