5 Tips for Painting Closets

Posted on August 31, 2021

Although, painting your closets may be the least of your concerns when it comes to the aesthetic of your home… they are important! Well painted and correctly painted closet spaces really help to pull the entire home together. It is also important to make sure the paint you choose is optimal for what a closet is designed for… finding things. CertaPro Painters® of El Paso has painted a number of closets and homeowners are always happy with their decision. Here are 5 tips to help make your closets as functional as possible.

  • Assess what paint is already in your closets. If it is a darker color, you will have to prime the walls before you begin painting. You can do this by rolling it on just as you would when you are painting.
  • Consider bright colors. Bright colors help open up a space and make it look larger than it actually is. This is important in spaces such as closets. It will also make it easier to see what is in the closets.
  • Choose the right shade. Using the same color in the closet that is used in that particular room makes for a classy, simple look.
  • Avoid very pale and very dark paint colors. Both of these show wear and tear more quickly than the in-between shades. The closet will endure the most wear and tear due to shoes and other items are being thrown around.
  • Choose the right finish. Satin paint is the best option for closets. This is because it doesn’t show marks as easily. It is also easier to clean.
  • Skip the Ceiling. The ceiling of a closet most likely isn’t visible to the public eye and therefore isn’t really worth the time and effort it will take to paint.
