Roof Coating in Vail

In September of 2020, CertaPro Painters of Tucson completed a roof coating repair and repainting project for a home in Vail. In order to ensure a uniform appearance and long-lasting quality, CertaPro Painters underwent a rigorous process of power washing, scraping, reinforcing, and repainting the badly damaged roof. At the end of the three-day project, the client was pleased to see their roof returned to its original beauty and adequately protected against the harsh climate of Arizona.

CHALLENGES:

The gaps between the parapets and the roof coating required special attention to ensure the layers of fiberglass mesh and concentrated elastomeric were applied and reinforced correctly. This method will prevent cracking and handle the extremes of Tucson weather for years to come, preserving the pristine appearance of the finished job.

CONDITIONS:

  • Worn Paint – The exterior of the roof had a faded look that needed an update with a fresh coat of paint
  • Exposed Tar – The roof had worn away in spots to expose the roofing tar, which can reach high temperatures in the summer, causing stains and damage
  • Moisture Exposure – As the roof coating separates from the parapets, the roof becomes more susceptible to water damage

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

  • Prep – The roof was cleaned and prepared for painting, the coating was removed via power washing, and the surface was again brushed with a wire brush
  • Reinforce – A fiberglass mesh was used throughout the roof to provide structure and support
  • Paint – After reinforcement is complete, the roof is ready to be painted and coated
