7 Steps to an Easy Breezy Front Porch
Posted on April 1, 2019
If you dream of sitting on the porch this Spring enjoying the freshly bloomed flowers and sweet smell of cut grass but your front porch makes you sad, it’s time to rejuvenate your front entry. While you don’t stare at your front porch all day, it’s all your neighbors and guests see. Don’t waste this first impression this Spring. Here are seven steps to an outstanding front porch renovation.
1. Clean Clutter
First thing you can do for your porch is to clear clutter. We all have that basket of less than stellar flowers and a broken sign that says bless this mess. Now’s the time. Clear out the broken, decrepit and sad. This will prep the area for work, and give you a clean slate to work from.
2. Little Lights
Porches typically only boast a front porch light. Extend the time of day you can use the area by adding some twinkle or garden lights. This makes your front porch an ethereal garden that all the neighbors will want an invite to.
3. Pattern Play
Style the floor of your porch with a weather-proof stenciled pattern. Pick contrasting colors and a simple plastic pattern from the local art store. Paint the pattern in a rug shape or go wild with the whole porch.
4. Fabulous Fabrics
Whether you are looking for privacy from prying neighbors or a refuge from the sun, curtains are your answer. Stylish outdoor fabrics dress up a porch and can be opened or closed to suit your mood.
5. Pretty Plants
Use potted flowers and hanging plants to draw the eye in and create a pop of color on your front porch. Grab some petunias or mums and a nice planter to finish your porch.
6. Paint for Pleasure
A little paint goes a long way. You can hire your favorite local exterior painters or grab some new brushes and paint a new color on a railing, or create a new color on the front porch. Don’t feel limited with your painting, go wild. Paint the floors, stairs, railings, numbers and anywhere else that would spruce up your home.
7. Awesome Accessories
Now is the time to shop! Get some coordinating chairs or cushions to bring your whole project together. Before you know it, you’ll be sipping tea on the front porch.
