Projects With Paint For Your Outdoor Living Space

Posted on March 17, 2020

With better weather, you’re sure to be outside more often. After the weather of winter, your outdoor areas might need a bit of extra love. Use some paint to update outdoor spaces to create your own area to host parties or enjoy summer drinks. Here are some projects with paint for your outdoor living space.

Front door

Front doors create your home’s first impression. Exterior can be quickly transformed with a new door color. Trends have shown that even conservatively painted homes can benefit from a colorful front door. The most used color, Peppercorn, is just shy of black and creates a feeling of security and class on almost any home. It also gets an additional $6,000 on home sales. Also recommended are green, red, yellow or blue. When you shop, look for exterior paint and avoid glossy finishes to hide imperfections in the door.

Outdoor furniture

Outdoor furniture can be updated easily over a weekend with a little elbow grease. Whether you have outdated furniture or have scored a set at a garage sale, take it up in style with a new color. To begin, you’ll need to sand down any existing color. For bonus points, pair the color with the current color scheme on your home. You can also score a win by choosing from colors in the plants around your house.

Porch ceilings

Porches and patios are quite often forgotten about, especially the ceiling. Bring sunny blue skies inside with a light blue ceiling paint. If you’re not that adventurous, add a slight tint to white and take to painting. For bolder, go brighter. There are tons of style inspirations online to get you started.

Highlight outdoor colors

Look at your property to find color inspiration to draw from. If you don’t know where to begin, start with what’s close by. Do you have a flowering tree or bed nearby that will tie the whole look together? Start there! A yard full of mixed color flowers is a sign you should stick to neutral and avoid overwhelming the eyes. If you only have greens in shrubs and grass, choose a complementary color.

Don’t miss out on down

Floors are usually given a quick sweep and not an afterthought. Even if you’re dealing with a bare wood or concrete floor, take time to sand it and put some paint or stain down. This will enhance the colors around and give you a finished room.
